About Karen E. Knapp, M.D.

Karen Knapp, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with Commonwealth OB/GYN Specialists in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Knapp earned her Medical Doctorate at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and completed her residency at the Medical College of Virginia. Prior to medical school, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from the University of Michigan. Dr. Knapp has more than 35 years of experience in menopausal medicine, non-invasive surgery, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, and the full-range of obstetrics.

Dr. Knapp is one of only a few practitioners in the Central Virginia region who is certified by the North American Menopausal Society to help women navigate the challenges of menopause. In addition, she is a Diplomate with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Knapp also served as an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.

When not seeing patients, Dr. Knapp enjoys spending as much time as possible with her family and old sports cars.
